Generation Seven���Shirely went to school at Spring Hill College and graduated St. Louis University with an AB in 1872. He graduated from the Alabama Medical College in 1875 with an MD. He practiced in Lowndes Co., AL until March 1896, he had been Health Officer of Lowndes and Montgomery Counties and in March 1901 was appointed as physician inspector of the convict board and in 1907 was appointed state prison inspector.348
